The Thomas China Co., at Lisbon, are now under successful headway in all departments, and are turning out a grade of semi-vitreous porcelain that will bear the closest inspection, and compare favorably with the best quality on the market. The purpose of the managers of this new plant is to make a distinctly high grade of ware, to show the best art possible, and to develop new designs that will attract for their merit and newness. They are engaged on a line of jardinieres and cuspidors the shapes of which are peculiarly graceful and in a new design, leaving the largest possible space for decoration, yet ornate in the clay at top and bottom in New Art style. They have also a new covered dish whose shape shows remarkable originality and peculiar gracefulness. Their cracker jars, handled and unhandled, comb and brush trays and other specialties are in original designs and of an excellent quality of semi-vitreous porcelain.
