TESTIMONY OF WILLIAM BROOKFIELD

William Brookfield, manufacturer of glass, was next sworn and examined by the Chairman. He stated that he did not know what he was subpoened for, unless it was in reference to an overcharge by the General Order store. Some months ago he imported thirty barrels soda ash; was late with his permit; the barrels went to General Orders stores. He was charged just double what would be charged in other bonded warehouses, but he could not recollect the exact sum. The witness had no further testimony to give.
