ABE ROSEN IS NAMED DEFENDANT Petition For Receivership Against Him Is Filed This Morning (SPECIAL TO THE TIMES) CROWN POINT, Ind., June 23. — Abe Rosen of Gary, who caused such a furor in Indiana recently by obtaining a restraining order against the state to prevent it from interfering with his unlicensed sale of imported beer, was names defendant in a petition for receivership filed in the Lake Circuit court this morning. The petition was filed by the Hemingray Glass company of Muncie, and alleges that the United Bottling company at 226 East 21st street, Gary, which Rosen heads, is insolvent. Listed as alleged evidence of insolvency are five notes for $776.04 which the petition avers are unpayable. The petition further alleges that the company owes numerous other debts and cannot pay them. Appointment of a receiver is asked to protect creditors and to operate the company until settlement of the indebtedness is made. Rosen has been selling beer without a state license for several weeks now. He applied for his restraining order when the state refused to grant him a wholesaler's license. He said at the time that political reasons motivated the state's refusal. |
