ANOTHER GLASS FACTORY

MAY COME TO LONG BEACH

Representatives of Two Big Eastern Concerns in

the City Looking Over Conditions

Attracted by the reports of a favorable condition for the manufacture of glass in Long Beach, a representative of the largest manufacturer of glass bottles in the United States is the guest of S. S. Stonaker of the California Glass Insulator company, which is erecting its factory on the flats in the harbor district.

This concern manufactures articles of a different kind from that of the glass insulator, and its officers were attracted here by the news of the equipment which the local concern is placing in its factory.

Accompanying the representative of the eastern factory is a representative of the concern which manufactures glass furnaces. The guests of Mr. Stonaker are Mr. George F. Bacon, of the White Hall [sic] Whitall Tatum Glass company, and Frank J. Cox, of the Cox and Sons company. The former company is located in Millville, N. J., and the latter is located in Bridgeton, N. J.

The White Hall [sic] Whitall Tatum company is the largest of its kind in the country and is seeking a site for a Pacific coast branch. Mr. Bacon has made a thorough investigation of the conditions here and was favorably impressed and it was reported this morning that it was but a question of time until his company would locate in Long Beach and would become associated with the local glass factory.

Mr. Bacon said he never had seen a more favorable site for a glass factory and was highly pleased with prospects here. He spent a large portion of his time here in inspecting the improved machinery which the local company is placing in position in its factory.

The latter is making rapid progress toward the completion of its plant and it was announced this morning that the plant would be in operation by the middle of next month. Four carloads of machinery arrived in the last few days and seven more cars are enroute and are expected next week.

In commenting upon the site here for an industry of this character, Mr. Stonaker said: "Mr. Bacon agreed that this was one of the best sites in the country and was highly pleased. I feel that there is no doubt but that but that his company will establish a factory on the coast and there is not much doubt but that the factory will be located here in Long Beach. He inquired closely into rates and shipping facilities. His trip west was made for the purpose of selecting a site for the White Hall [sic] Whitall Tatum company."
