James E. Pass, of the Onondaga Pottery Co., was before the Syracuse, N. Y., Chamber of Commerce recently to urge the retention of the Erie Canal, the diverting of which from Syracuse is being proposed. He declared that had it not been for the freight facilities made possible by the canal he would not have established his pottery in Syracuse, thereby depriving that city of a $300,000 annual payroll.
