Known to Glass Blowers.
Many of the old-time glass blowers, a few of whom live in Muncie, knew Wesley Jukes, and those who did not know him have probably heard of him. He was a blower who quit the trade for the circus business. He was the inventor of the "Cardiff giant," "the woman cut in half," "the Gideon's band," the "automatic chess player," steam calliope and scores of other mechanical devices and circus attractions. Jukes died Sunday at his home, 576 Fulton street, Chicago. He was 63 years old. The greater part of his life was spent with P.T. Barnum, W.C. Coup, John Robinson and other showmen.
