MATCH POINTS By Mary Ellen Holly · · A nine-table Howell tournament at the Lake-View Bridge Club on Monday night brought forth a number of players who are not often present in the local tournaments. Henry Walbold of Berkeley seldom indulges in tournament play but has an enviable record as a contract player, having been a member of one of the World Bridge Olympic teams that won in California. San Jose contractors motored up for another twirl of duplicate with the Oaklanders also, and all appear in the winners' list. Winners were: Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Hemmingray [sic] Hemingray (San Jose), 120 match points, 18 rating points; Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Felchlin, 113, 12; Robert Willson, Henry Walbold, 100, 7; Mrs. Jones, Mrs. L. Shaffer (San Jose), 100, 7; Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Straus, 97½, 2; Mrs. O. E. Lemmon, Erwin Frane, 94, 1; Donald Ingham, Mrs. C. L. Taylor, 94, 1. · · |
