During an interview last week with General Superintendent David Pugh, of the Diamond Flint Glass Co., Montreal, Can., he stated that the usual steady run was registered on general lines of ware at the big plant across the border, but that the results obtained in the lamp chimney and paste mold departments were not as satisfactory as heretofore. When questioned as to the cause he stated that foreign competition has become very keen in these lines; in fact, so much so that the Canadian manufacturer is greatly handicapped and finds it impossible to meet the prices quoted by foreign houses.
