"Two Souls with But a Single Thought."
Mr. John Dreffer, jr., and Miss Mary E. Richardson were united in marriage last evening at the residence of the bride's parents on West Third street. The groom is the well known publisher, and the bride is the daughter of Isaiah Richardson, Esq., Superintendent of the Hemingray Glass Works. The handsome parlors were thronged with friends and relatives of the contracting parties, and promptly at half past 8 o'clock, the ceremony which made the happy pair one was performed by Rev. W. H. Felix, pastor of the Fourth-street Baptist Church. The attendants were Ralph, Nettie, Isaiah, and Susie, brothers and sisters of the bride. The congratulations and good wishes of all were then tendered to the wedded pair, and this was followed by an adjournment to the dining hall, where an elegant banquet was discussed amid general mirth and merriment. Of the numerous elegant and tasteful presents noticeable were a handsome glass set from Mr. Ralph Hemingray; silver butter dish, Miss Charlotte Fagin, ornamental swinging lamp, Mr. and Mrs. Cheshire; figured china set, Captain R. Evans; embossed silver fruit basket, J. P. Hallinan; cologne set, Anna and Mary Blewitt; toilet set, Mrs. Fitzpatrick; velvet cushion, Mollie Blewitt, elegant pickle casters, J. Schwelker and W. E. Steward; cologne set, Anna and Mary Jenkins; silver butter dish, Ida Richardson; patent cooking stove, parents of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. Dreffer left last night on a brief bridal tour, previous to settling down to the duties of household life. They begin the matrimonial voyage with wishes of hosts of friends that it may be always one of sunshine and happiness. |
