Criminal Court.

 

Dec. 4. — Mattie Lewis, colored, pleaded not guilty to the charge of grand larceny, and the jury returned a verdict sentencing her to one year in the penitentiary.

Dec. 5. — The first case called this morning was that of George Madison, charged with willful murder.

Following is a list of the jurymen: C. H. Schussler, I. B. Pearce, H. S. Whitaker, R. G. Hemingray, Charles Mahlmann, H. Timmermann, G. W. Thompson, J. W. Bates, James Armstrong, H. H. Mathews, and John Coleman. The examination of witnesses was begun and will be finished this afternoon.

Mary Walz was tried and adjudged to be a lunatic, and ordered to be sent to the Eastern Asylum.
