Death of Mrs. George W. Thomas.
One of the most estimable ladies in the entire East Liverpool community died when the spirit of Mrs. Margaret Thomas, wife of George W. Thomas, president of the R. Thomas & Sons Co. winged its flight last Monday. Mrs. Thomas became ill the preceding Saturday, and her condition became so alarming that specialists were summoned from neighboring cities to confer with the leading doctors of East Liverpool. It develops that Mrs. Thomas was suffering from an abscess at the base of the brain, and in the hope that her life might be saved it was decided to perform an operatoin of the most delicate character. She was removed to the hospital, where the operation took place, and was then returned to her home. But relief was only temporary, and she grew rapidly worse until the end came. Mrs. Thomas had lived the greater part of her life in East Liverpool and was amonth the most estimable of the city's women. She was kind and thoughtful, a loving mother and devoted wife. Her position in the community was established by the many acts of charity and goodness which came to light through no effort of her own, for she believed that the greatest good was done without the knowledge becoming widespread. She held a high position socially, and in the church was known as a consistent Christian. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Margaret, Richard Goodwin, Lawrence and Elizabeth. |
