After struggling manfully along for some eighteen months, says the San Francisco Journal of Commerce, the California Glass Works has at last yielded up the ghost. If abundant capital could have made the enterprise a success, it should have been highly prosperous. The truth is, the market for glassware is limited, and there is not enough to keep the old factory running to its full capacity. The chance for a second factory may therefore be imagined. The California Glass Works after opening up made an unsuccessful run and had to stop. It was started up again with liberal means, but had no better success than before.
