The San Francisco Commercial Herald says that the latest thing for San Francisco is a flint glass factory. Mr. C. Newman, President of the San Francisco and Pacific Glass Works, having returned from a trip of several months to the East, the result of which visit is that the furnace for flint glass making will be ready in January, while blowing will commence in February. The factory will turn out everything in the shape of flint or white glass, such as tumblers, lamp shades, chimneys, jelly glasses, druggists' ware and other articles. It is not expected that the factory will pay the first year, on account of heavy expense incidental to starting, and the work of training up the hands in their duties. There will be employment for from 60 to 75 men in this industry.
