FLINT BOTTLE MANUFACTURERS IN

COUNCIL.

Columbus, O., Sept. 26 1883.

The Western Flint Bottle Association held a meeting at the Neil House, this city, to-day, which was attended by delegates from all the Western factories with three or four exceptions. The meeting was called to order at 9:45 A.M., by J. K. Cummings, of St. Louis, in the chair, and John Watson, of William McCully & Co., Pittsburg, acting as secretary. The following firms were represented: Tibbey Bros., Sharpsburg, Pa.; W. H. Hamilton & Co., J. T. & A. Hamilton, Wm. McCully & Co., and Agnew & Co., all of Pittsburg; W. Eliot Smith, Great Western Glass Co., and J. K. Cummings, all of St. Louis; North Wheeling Glass Co., Wheeling, W. Va.; Bellaire Bottle Co., Bellaire, O.; Steubenville, Bottle Co., Steubenville, O.; Kearns, Herdman & Gorsuch, Zanesville, O.; and the Hemingray Glass Co., Covington, Ky.

The following firms were admitted as new members of the Association: J. K. Cummings and W. Eliot Smith, of St. Louis; Kearns, Herdman & Gorsuch, Zanesville; Steubenville Bottle Co., and Bellaire Bottle Co.

Robert Liddell was absent through being appointed umpire at the Hulton boat races, but both he, C. L. Flaccus, of Tarentum, and the Point Bottle Works, of Rochester, Pa., who were not represented, sent word that they would endorse the action of the meeting.

The principal business considered was the question of prices and discounts. All former quotations are withdrawn from this date, and new ones substituted, which it is not thought prudent to publish until the circular which the Association will send to the trade is ready.

No action whatever was taken in regard to the recent labor troubles of Pittsburg, but the course of the manufacturers there was endorsed by all the members individually.

The convention adjourned, to meet at the Burnett House, Cincinnati, on October 24, 1883.
