Man Badly Burned

in Glass Works Fire

In an early morning blaze which broke out at the Dominion Glass Works, foot of Dovercourt road, at 2.09 am, yesterday, John Schwat, 344 Jones avenue, sustained serious burns about the hands and face. Schwat was working above an oil tank in the works, when the contents ignited, and the flames burned up suddenly and caught his clothing. He was taken to the office of Dr. Smuck, 74 Beaconsfield avenue, and, after his injuries had been dressed, was removed to his home. The fire was extinguished shortly after the arrival of the firemen. It is estimated that $300 damage was caused.
