THE SOUTH JERSEY DISTRICT. Salem, N. J., March 26. - Everything is moving all O. K. at this place. We hear no kicks so everybody must be satisfied. There have been no changes since my last report except Gayner's. They have put the three shifts on grape juice ware. Mark Creighton is in charge of the mold shop at this plant. At the Salem Glass Works affairs are running along as usual, but orders are a little slow at present. They are making up some stock now but hope things will open up soon. The factory is operating full capacity. Last meeting night President D. A. Hayes, Secretary Wm. Launer and Executive Officer F. M. Edwards were here. President Hayes outlined the condition of the trade and the problems to be solved at our next convention. It was a very interesting heart-to-heart talk. I think if the trade at large accepts his solution of the problems we will be all right. Launer, in his courteous way, also gave us some nuts to crack, and if the members crack them they will get the kernels all right. Hayes spoke one hour and twenty minutes to about 150 members. Our legislative committee is doing good work this year. The members are on the job and keep our senator an assemblyman on the jump. - Fort Mott. |
