PROMINENT GLASS MAN DIES.


Wm. J [sic] F. Modes, Inventor of the Continuous

Tank, Succumbs After Long Illness.


Wm. F. Modes, former superintendent of the Streator Bottle & Glass Co.'s plant and pioneer in the glass industry, died at his home in Urbana, O., Monday morning. He had resided in Urbana for several years, having had interests there. He has been failing for some time and his death was not unexpected.

In Streator for about 14 years, he was instrumental in building up the big plant of which that city now boasts. He invented the continuous tank system, which plan was generally adopted throughout the country. After leaving Streator he was instrumental in establishing glass plants at Cicero and at Terre Haute. Lately he has been connected with a glass plant at Urbana.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon as Cicero, Ind.
