TOLEDO, Ohio UP — Owens-Illinois, Inc., said today it will build a multi-million-dollar plant near Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to make glass picture tube bulbs for television.

Work on the two furnace plant will begin this summer and it is a be ready for production by the fall of 1967. R. H. Mulford, Owens-Illinois president, said the new plant will employ about 1,000 and have an annual payroll of $7 million.

The plant site is 16 acres of a 225-acre tract three miles from Pittston in Jenkins Township.

Owens-Illinois supplies parts for color and black and white picture tube bulbs to all major U. S. tube makers. The company has other bulb plants in Columbus, Ohio, and Muncie, Ind.
