GLASSWORKS Representative of Big Concern in Reading, O., Said His People Might Locate in Covington — Looked at Probable Sites. There is a probability that Covington may soon have another glass factory, which will give employment to fully 100 persons. Several days ago representatives of a big glassworks at Reading, O., visited Covington and had the vacant lot at Second and Scott Streets surveyed. They stated that they intended to erect a new plant either in Covington or in the East, but said it was extremely unlikely that they would get any better facilities than in Covington. They talked very favorably of opening here. If it was started, they said the plant would be in operation by next September. A plant of this kind would be a big thing for the city, as much home labor would be employed. There is already one glass concern in the city, also located near Second and Scott Streets, but the main plant of this concern has moved to Muncie, Ind. |
