William F. Modes, the well known bottle manufacturer, as stated some weeks ago in these columns, has made that trip to Monterey, Mex., and not only sampled the pulque and amber fluid brewed by the natives, but also found an abundance of sand, lime, coal, and obsidian — in short every thing necessary to make as good bottles as can be made on this earth. On his way back to Indiana, he stopped at Denver, Co., to look over the field there and make an estimate of the savings possible to be effected by the enlargement of the small bottle works at Valverde. Local brewers and bottlers have become interested in the works, and Denver and the near-by population centers could readily take the product of several good sized factories.
