STRIKE IN INSULATOR PLANT Italians Ask for $2 for Nine-Hour Day - Request Granted.
Victor, March 2. - Sixty Italians employed by the Locke Insulator Company in this village went on strike yesterday morning demanding $2 a day for a nine-hour day. All of the men employed in the kilns have been engaged at varying salaries. Some received $1.50, some $1.75, some $1.90 and a few $2 for a ten-hour day. The demand made is that all be paid $2 for a nine-hour day. The request was at once granted and the men returned to work, but when it was learned that the new schedule would go in affect on Monday the men again went out saying that they would not work until Monday. |
