DIED - In Honeoye Falls, July 4, 1883, William G. Locke, aged 74 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Mr. Locke came from New Hampshire to this village in 1829 in company with Mr. Charles F. Cutler. The place was then, of course, simply a hamlet. He began business here, and has been a constant resident and an active citizen until age and infirmity impaired him for consecutive work. During the past two years, he has been helpless, but has had the kindly ministrations of his family.
Mr. Locke was universally respected; an upright and conscientious business man; a broad minded liberal citizen; and an intelligent and genial companion.
But more particularly in his domestic relations will his memory be cherished. The widow will think of him as a kind husband, and the only surviving child will recall her father as a tender and wisely indulgent parent.
During the greater portion of his life he was a regular church attendant and a faithful and reliable assistant in the choir. He went out to church several times even after he was unable to remain through the full service.
"Thou hast come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in his season" - Job, v., 26.
The funeral of Mr. William G. Locke will be held this afternoon at 5 o'clock from the Episcopal Church.
