MEACHAM ESCAPES

THE CONVICT MINES

Alfred Meacham, the former Muncie glassworker, convicted of the murder of Fred Cummings at Chattanooga, Tenn., a month ago, will not spend the fifteen years of his sentence in the convict mines of that state, as is customary with other able-bodied prisoners. Through the influence of his attorney, he has been sent to the State prison at Nashville, and will be confined there.
