How Was It Named?

FOLEY RD.

The name refers to Capt. James W. Foley, Cincinnati industrialist and Civil War hero. He lived in Delhi and owned property on this street.

Foley came here from Pittsburgh in 1850 and started in the foundry business. He enlisted during the Civil War and distinguished himself in a number of battles before being discharged as Captain in 1865.

When he returned to the city, he bought stock in the Eureka Foundry Co. and later became one of the founders of the J. W. Foley Co., foundry and iron manufacturer.

Foley road extends from Neeb road to Trenton avenue.
