Locke Insulator Factory to Stay in

Victor

A matter of interest that we neglected to mention last week was that concerning the rebuilding of the Locke Insulator Works recently burned at Victor. When it was learned that Newark, Rochester, Canandaigua and other towns were ready to bid for the location of the works, Victorites began to bestir themselves. They could not afford to lose an industry that they had seen from a small beginning grow into an important industry, and a meeting was called. A committee of 35 was appointed and in less than twenty-four hours of hustling they were able to report that a bonus fund of $2,500 had been raised, which was welcome news. Mr. Locke had been no less active. He had closed a contract for the purchase of the Conover property, including the lumber yard, house and lot and about ten acres of land; consideration, $7,500. He will rebuild of brick and steel on the old site and he needs more room. It was rumored that he will be ready to resume business in less than sixty days.
