Obituary Notices.
JUDGE JAMES FOLEY. — Judge James Foley, of Shelby county, Mo., departed this life on the 28th of December, 1859, in the eighty-first year of his age. He was born in Prince William county, Va. Removed to Western Virginia in 1803. Removed from there, in 1828, to Kentucky, and to Missouri in 1834. He was an affectionate father, a kind husband, a warm friend, and a good master, to a fault. He was a member of the Methodist E. Church for many years; and for the last few years of his life, was much engaged in his personal salvation; and a good hope is entertained of his happiness in the heavenly world. He was taken suddenly ill, in a very short time became speechless, and remained so for about fifty hours, then expired, without a struggle or a groan. His disease was apoplexy. He removed to Shelbyville to school his grandchildren, to be in reach of the means of grace, and to aid in the building up of the Shelby High School, and gave liberally for that purpose. He left two children — Mrs. Moore, and B. W. Foley, Mayor of the city of Covington, Ky. AN OLD ACQUAINTANCE. Shelbyville, Mo., Feb. 8, 1860. · · |
