BEFORE THE SUPREME

COURT OF THE U. S.

(From Wednesday's Daily)

The Supreme court of the United States convened yesterday with its calendar filled with important cases, one of the most important being the constitutionality of the draft law. If the court should determine the law unconstitutional, the 600,000 young men who have been conscripted could at once return to their homes.

Another very important case that comes before the court is the child labor law. Should this law be invalidated all national efforts to reform child labor conditions must be abandoned by the government and the field given over to the states, many of which are unfriendly to such legislation.

These two very important measures are to be given the right-of-way and opinions are expected soon on both of them.
