W. Edgar Evans Was Native

of Covington.


Ill for a short time, W. Edgar Evans, 65, former secretary-treasurer of the Hemingray Glass Co., Covington, Ky., died Wednesday in his home at 3100 Woodburn Avenue.

Evans was a native of Covington, but for the past several years had lived in Cincinnati. He was the brother of the late Richard Evans, at one time junior partner of the H. J. Heinz Co., and leaves his widow, Mrs. Ida Crane Evans, whose father formerly was president of the M. H. Crane Co.

From the time he was a young man Evans was employed in the glass company which was founded by his uncle, Robert Hemingray. For many years the firm maintained its plant in Covington, later moving to Muncie, Ind., but retaining an office here of which Evans later was in charge. He retired shortly before the company was bought out about six years ago.

Funeral services will be held in Wiltsee Chapel, 24 West Ninth Street, Friday at 11 a.m. and burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.
