Ontario County played an important and interesting part in the development of our nation. Here are some (but by no means all) of the significant events in the history of the county:

1893 — Fred M. Locke of Victor, revoluntionized power transmission by his invention of the porcelain insulator which he manufactured. Three years before he had made a usable electric lamp, the first in the area.
