ORDERS DIXON LEERS

The Whitall Tatum Co., glassware manufacturers of Millville, N. J., have placed with the H. L. Dixon Co., Pittsburgh, an order for three Dixon patented continuous muffle leers. Each leer will be 15 feet wide and 50 feet in length. In the construction of these leers there will be used the recently developed Dixon special composition tile. The double pan carriers will have three lines of chains. The construction of these leers will be such that it will be possible to extend them to a width of 20 feet if necessary. The design of the muffle is such, it is said, that perfect temperature control is obtainable. This makes it possible to reduce the total length of the leer to 50 feet.

George S. Bacon, general manager of the Whitall Tatum Co., placed the order after he had seen the Dixon 15-foot leer in operation at the plant of the Capstan Glass Co., at Connellsville, Pa. After seeing the leer in operation, Mr. Bacon at once ordered three leers to be installed at Millville. These lrs [sic] leers will bring to 50 th [sic] the number placed by the Dixon company.
