SOUTH JERSEY BOTTLE FACTORIES BUSY More glass bottle factories are now operating in July in Millville, N. J., than has been the case for a number of years, in fact, few can remember when there were more operating at this season of the year than at present. At the South Millville works of the Whitall-Tatum Co., only one small factory was put out at the end of June, when for many years there was a general cessation of industry throughout the trade. Three factories there continue to run along full capacity, and some are working day and night. About the same condition prevails at the Glasstown works of the same firm, only a small day tank having been put out and two large factories still in operation. At the Millville Bottle Works there has not been the slightest halt, and no date has been announced for the close of the season's blast. The T. C. Wheaton Glass company is also continuing to operate as for the past few months and the two factories will continue to be worked, according to present indications, until toward the end of July. The prospect is very gratifying to both manufacturers and workers, and it is believed that in the early fall there will be a general revival of the old-time busy hum of industries generally. |
