The manufacture of glass in San Francisco during the year 1881, has been prosecuted with great success. The San Francisco and Pacific Glass Works have, during the year, doubled their capacity. They have erected a large factory on Berry street, in the rear of the old factory on King street. The works combined have a capacity of making 14 tons of glass daily; this is a sufficient quantity to fully supply the demand in bottles, vials, demijohns, fruit jars, etc., for the next five years. They give employment to 200 hands. The value of their annual production is $325,000. In a few months this company will have in operation a flint glass factory for the purpose of manufacturing druggists' prescription vials, etc. They have a large stock of material necessary for the manufacture of flint glass; the pots are ready, while the construction of the furnaces is progressing as rapidly as possible.
