OVERTIME PAY SCALE RAISED BY GLASS FIRM 17 Units Of Owens-Illinois Co., To Benefit Under Plan
HUNTINGTON, June 30 — Empoyes [sic] Employes of the Owens-Illinois Glass Co., here, who are paid by the hour, yesterday were informed that, effective yesterday, they are to receive additional compensation for "any emergency work they are called upon to perform over and above the regular 40-hour week." The announcement was: "Hourly rate employes will receive 50 per cent above their regular wage rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in any one week and double the regular rate will be paid for all hours worked on certain designated holidays". Seventeen units of the Owens-Illinois Co. benefit under the plan. They are 15 glass container factories located at various points and the Glass Block & Insulator plant at Muncie, Ind., and Fibre Glass plant at Newark, O. The plant also includes the company's subsidiaries, Libbey, Glass Co, and Owens-Illinois Closure Co, both of Toledo. |
