MCBRIDE GIVES WATER TO SALEM

Thomas McBride, lamp chimney manufacturer, last week took the role of philanthropist with relation to the population of Salem, W. Va. When it was found that Mr. McBride controlled the only certain water supply for Salem, he was asked to lease a water well to the town. Instead, Mr. McBride presented the well and the ground surrounding it to the city of Salem. The well has a capacity of 20,000 gallons a day, sufficient to supply the city day and night. Previously the water supply had been short. In addition to his plant in Salem, Mr. McBride also owns a lamp chimney factory in Anaheim, Calif.
