Hunter Lawrence Discharged.

The case of the Commonwealth against policeman Hunter Lawrence, charged with the killing of James Saunders, a colored man, last Saturday night, was yesterday dismissed by the examining court, consisting of Esquires Ewan and McLaughlin, on the groound that the evidence was not sufficient to hold the defendant over.

When Court convened yesterday afternoon, to hear the arguments of counsel, it was some time before it could be decided on each side who should open and who close to debate.

Judge Roberts, of the defense, at last spoke first, so to speak, and was followed by Major Richardson for the Commonwealth; the testimony, pro and con, as already published, was thoroughly reviewed, and Walter Cleary followed the Major, in an ultra logical oratorical effort. Colonel Oneal for the prosecution and M. J. Dudley for the defense then followed, and the case was closed by County Attorney Wise. After a brief consultation the Magistrates decided to dicharge the defendant as stated above.
