Well here we are again and still alive, was very well attended. We were glad to see so many present, makes you feel as though the germ of this climate, the open shop, has not affected our members and they are still strong for the A. F. G. W. U. The Mission Glass Company which closed in December is making an effort to get started. The Crystalite at Glendale has been working pretty good so Brother Joe Bloomgreen reported. The Technical has been doing well since the first of the year as the members working there are getting good time. The McLaughlin Glass Company has been closed down for a few days but expected to start again next week. At Santa Ana, the Brock Glass Company has been working three days a week but the prospects look better. Our members in the mould making department seem to have steady work. The Forger plant has been running pretty good the last four or five weeks and the Lynwood Specialty Works operated by Sam Woods and Corliss Leonard, mould makers, is doing fine and at present has that old Pittsburgher, Fred Senn, working there. I overlooked this shop in my letters so I take pleasure in telling you about them now.

The Southern Glass Company was almost wrecked by a storm that had all the earmarks of a cyclone to you see we have everything in old sunny California. Some of the members who worked at the Mission have gone back East.

I surely have got to say something about the last meeting, it was a pleasure to see some faces there that I have not seen in the meeting hall for months and I assure you brothers we were all glad so come again and help us run the local. Don't stay away and say "oh there are just a few who run it." You know someone has to run it and that duty falls on the ones that attend so if you will only come you can feel assured you will have your say and the best place to have your say is in the meeting hall. It will do more good than all the extra meetings you hold someplace else. Well I got that off my tummy so you brothers that don't like it come down to the hall next meeting day and tell me about it.

The organizing committee of the Greens, Mr. Campbell and his partner, have been very active here among the Neon Lamp workers. I do not know what success they are having. They did organize a local in Seattle, Wash., under the Greens but they don't seem to care much about the decision of the A. F. of L. to keep hands off these lamp workers. In one of my letters I think I mentioned about them granting permission here to a certain factory to work seven days a week. The men working in that plant are all members of the Greens except the mould makers and the manager of this factory, Walther Ludlum, we understand made the request. I have been given to understand also that he was always a good union man when he was making moulds. No doubt he is one of the mould makers who used to raise cane because the mould makers had to work on Saturday afternoon.

Our members were very sorry to hear of the passing of Jacob Pence, thus the old guard drops off one by one. Those old fellows went through the battles that paved the way for what we enjoy today. God rest their souls, and let us say well done thy good and faithful servant in my father's house there are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you. In the days gone by the old guard went forth and faced the battle for better conditions and prepared a place for us with better conditions to work under that we might enjoy the fruits of our labors. So let us show our appreciation of their labors by carrying on the work. All for one and one for all. Well don't get excited and think the writer has turned preacher for I still like my Home Brew.

Well Easter has passed and I hope all members in the trade were able to step out all dolled up. Clothes don't mean much here, just get a dandy bathing suit and stay at the beach. Had some real baseball here last week, Pittsburgh and Chicago. Pittsburgh took the Cubs to a cleaning three out of four. Hope that makes you Pittsburgh fans feel good. This will be all until next month.
