NEW AUTOMATIC BOTTLE MACHINE INSTALLED BY WHITALL-TATUM CO.
The following concerning installation of a new automatic bottle blowing machine at the Whitall-Tatum Co.'s South Millville works appeared in a Millville, N. J. dispatch of January 27 to the Bridgeton, N. J., "Evening News." A new automatic glass blowing machine, made for Whitall-Tatum Co., which has been installed in the South Millville works during the past six weeks or so, has been placed in operation and is turning out two-ounce bottles at the rate of 64 per minute. Smaller bottles can be made with greater speed and larger ones at a slightly slower rate. Heretofore, the Whitall-Tatum machines had been able to turn out but about one-half this production. In the old days of handblown ware, a shop would have been able to produce, possibly half dozen such bottles a minute - not any more than that number and the average shop might have experienced trouble turning out that many. |
