Charles Tinger [sic] Tigner Dies; Rites Held
Fairmount, Ind., March 20. — Word has been received here of the death last Friday, at his home in Cedarville, Mich., of Charles M. Tigner, former Fairmount resident and pioneer glass manufacturer of this city. He was about 75 years old, and it survived by the widow and six children, two sons and four daughters, all of whom reside in Columbus, O. Mr. Tigner was identified with the Rau Brothers in the building of the first glass manufacturing plant here, following the discovery of the Indiana natural gas fields, about 1890. He later started the King City factory here, and afterwards was manager for the Winslow Glass Co., operating plants at Matthews, Ind., and at Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Tigner then was instrumental in organizing the Essex Glass Co. with factories at Mount Vernon, Ohio, After selling his holdings in this concern about 15 years ago, the deceased spent practically all his time at Cedarville, where he had maintained a summer home for many years. The funeral services were conducted at that point on Sunday. |
