FAIRMOUNT, IND., Dec. 26 - Things are still in a very unsettled condition here. The Fairmount glass works are still blocking with no visible prospects. The King City is also idle. Both these factories are splendid plants, well equipped, and are well located and have also at the head a competent manager. I say again that it looks rather funny to see so much money laid out for these plants and then see them stand idle. In reading over the many letters in THE COMMONER AND GLASSWORKER I became very interested in "Tiddlede Winks." He writes a very newsy letter, but in speaking of the Marion Fruit Jar and Bottle Co. not moving to Fairmount, I want to say that it is a more complete move than was at first anticipated. We only expected to get their main office and principle business, but now as it is, Marion has not even a branch left. All right, "Winks," it might be the other eye. Mr. Wilson has proven himself a pusher at the old Dillon, in the short time he has been here, he has completely remodeled the plant, and the furnace is melting. It will be ready to blow within the next ten days. - G.B.D. |
