In the Circuit court of Delaware county Indiana, suit has been filed against the Lake Erie and Western Railroad company for damages alleged to have accrued through the destruction of the property of the Hemingray Glass company, of Muncie. It is alleged that the fire was caused by a spark from the engine of the defendant and damages amounting to $69,964.96 are demanded.

The plaintiffs are: Hemingray Glass company, Manchester Fire, Sun Insurance office, Western Assurance company, Trader's, of Chicago, St. Paul Fire and Marine, Imperial Fire, Evansville of Evansville, Lancashire of Manchester, Indiana Underwriters, British America of Toronto, Hamburg-Bremen, Norwich Union, North British and Mercantile, Springfield Fire and Marine and State Investment and Insurance company.

The fire took place on June 18, 1892. The case will come up during the September term of court. There is already another damage suit against Lake Erie, brought by the companies to recover on an adjacent property destroyed during the same fire.
