Suit is Brought for $100,000 Against the

Lake Erie and Western.

 

MUNCIE, Ind., Jan. 16. — Special Telegram. — C. H. Over of the C. H. Over Window Glass Company, today filed suit in the Delaware Cicuit Court asking $100,000 damages against the Lake Erie & Western Railway Company. In June, 1892, the Over Window Glass Works and the Hemingray Flint Glass Factories were burned, causing a loss of over $240,000. It is alleged in the suit that a spark from a Lake Erie and Western switch engine started the fire in the Over factory. Should Mr. Over gain the suit the Hemingray people will then begin like action. Mr. Over received nearly $40,000 insurance from the following companies who are assisting in the suit against the railroad company: British American, Niagara, Sun, Fire Office, Manchester, Norwich Union, Michigan Fire and Marine, North British, Mercantile, Firemen of Baltimore, Western Traders, German of Peoria, St. Paul F. and M., Lancashire, Imperial, Home, Evansville, Caledonia, Springfield F. and M., and Indiana Underwriters, Indiana of Fort Wayne, Scottish Union, Reading, Hamburg-Breman, State Investment. Nearly all of the above companies were involved in the Hemingray loss.
