MUNCIE, Ind., Dec. 8. — There was a $100 lawsuit here yesterday over a game cock. The rooster has for some time been in the possession of T. Kirby Heinsohn, of the Hotel Kirby, but was owned by Delbert Galligher. A few days ago George Alvy laid claim to the chicken, but as neither Heinsohn nor Galligher would give it up to him he entered a suit for replevin. Each employed a couple of lawyers, and yesterday seventy-five witnesses were examined, and the trial resulted in the chicken remaining in the possession of Galligher. Alvy had all of the costs to pay, amounting to over $100. During the trial the rooster was perched on the judge's desk, and crowed lustily several times. The game cock was brought from Covington by the Hemingrays, and has won many a fight during his time. He is kept now for breeding purposes only, and this trial has made him doubly valuable to his owner.
