THE NEW-HAMPSHIRE MECHANICS' FAIR is a great success. Four large halls are already filled with the products of mechanical ingenuity and more articles are constantly arriving. Every day this week the attendance of visitors has been large, each day, too, showing an improvement in this respect over its predecessor . All are surprised and gratified at the variety, extend, and pleasing effect of the exhibition. It is, we believe, the first attempt at such an assembly in the state, and we certainly regard it as the most satisfactory Fair ever held within the borders of the commonwealth. The managers have worked like beavers, from the inception of the enterprise down to the present time; worked too, against obstacles and discouragements which would have disheartened many men. The result is most flattering to them; and now that the success is attained, and an opportunity to put within the reach of all who dwell in this region to visit an exhibition not likely soon to be repeated, and never exactly duplicated, it will certainly be cause for regret if everyone does not avail himself of the occasion. We have made repeated visits—each time gaining more and more favorable impressions of the affair, and thoroughly convinced of our inability , in the space available in a weekly paper, to give an idea of the fair which shall be satisfactory to ourselves. · · The Lyndeborough Glass Co. have a large collection of the excellent ware for which they are widely known. · · |
