A SANDWICH MAN IN TROUBLE.

The Canal Co. not Affected.

SANDWICH, April 17 - The news of the arrest of Samuel Fessenden, treasurer of the Cape Cod Canal Company, in New York, today, created much excitement here tonight. It is a well known fact that he was active in negotiating the sale of the Boston and Sandwich glass factory to the Electric Glass Company and it was supposed that he made a fair thing for having effected the sale. It has been a query why the new concern has not started up the works as intended, but this alleged embezzlement may account for it in a measure. The matter will not materially affect the canal company. Although Fessenden is the treasurer, he has not had control of the funds for some months. He visits Sandwich occasionally and claims that he is interested in negotiating the disposal of the canal to New York capitalists.
