Years Ago.

Much surprise will doubtless be caused by the news that Miss Sue Hemingray and Robert A. Scott, Jr., will be married Wednesday of this week in New York City, where both are now living. The hour is not known. It is the culmination of a romance begun many years before Miss Hemingray fell in love with David Cusick, the polo player, whom she married and from whom she se­cured a divorce in Kokomo several months ago.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Anna Hemingray and until her marriage to Cusick in December, 1904, lived in Muncie with her mother. Mr. Scott is the son of Rob­ert Scott, Sr., the hardware mer­chant, and has been in his father's employ here most of the time since leaving school until about six months ago when he went to New York where he has since been em­ployed with a calendar manufactur­ing company.

If friends will be surprised at the news of the wedding, they will not be more so than the relatives. Until a card was received announcing the approaching marriage, the young man's parents had no knowledge of the contemplated wedding. Mrs. Scott and daughter, Miss Daisy, will depart this evening for New York to be present at the nuptials.

Both young Scott and Miss Hemingray were well known socially in Muncie. Being thrown much in each other’s company, they became greatly attached to each other several years ago, but they drifted apart and then David Cusick came to Muncie as a member of the local team in the Western league. Cusick captured the young girl’s fancy and they were married, but alter a brief married life they separated and Mrs. Cusick secured a divorce and the restoration of her maiden name. She and her mother for some time have been liv­ing in New York where the young woman’s brothers also are.

About six months ago young Scott told his friends here that he was going to California where he had a position awaiting him, but he did not go. Instead he went to New York City, but none knew why he changed his plans. Now they understand. Relatives here say that he will now take his long-contemplated trip to California, but that it probably will be his wedding trip.
