MANUFACTURE GLASS A $100,000 CORPORATION HAS BEEN FORMED AND MACHINERY IS TO BE ORDERED WILL BE ON BUFFALO BAYOU SPECIAL TO THE NEWS. Houston, Tex., Feb. 14. — Messrs. Allen and Young, interested here in business matters, the later to be located here, left last night for Indianapolis to make the purchase of valuable machinery for use in a glass factory that has been formed here. The new company is the Houston Glass & Bottle Manufacturing Company, with a capital stock of $100,000, half of which is Houston capital, the other is supplied by Messrs. Allen & Young and their friends. They are to purchase machinery of the very latest pattern and one that has deomonstrated its value and success. This new machinery is regarded as the chief assurance of the certainty of success, owing to the economy in expense it will bring into the practical operation of the . . . [illegible text] . . .. The factory is to be located on the bank of Buffalo bayou touching upon lines of rail and water transportation. The sand to be used will be obtained from the San Jacinto River, which sand has been used in the manufacture of glass and has been found to compare with sand used by the best glass factories in the United States. These gentlemen will be heard from in a few days and the work will then be pushed right ahead on construction. The Houston capitalists are Hugh Hamilton and friends. |
