PILKINGTON EXTENSIONS

Extensive improvements are being made at the great glass factory of Pilkington Bros. at St. Helens, Lancashire, England, according to latest advices from St. Helens. Pilkingtons not only are extending present factory facilities and buildings, but have purchased additional factories and sites.

Recently, Pilkington Bros. purchased from the United Alkali Co., the Gerard's Bridge Chemical Works. The chemical factory buildings are being removed for new buildings adapted to glass manufacturing. The Gerard's Bridge works is only a stone's throw from the Pilkington plate glass works at Cowley Hill. Improvements also are being made at the Ravenshead Glass Works and at the Crown Glass Works.
