The Hammond Cleat.

In the accompanying cuts are shown varieties of the Hammond cleat. They are manufactured by the Hammond Cleat & Insulation Company, of 15 Custom House St., Boston. The different styles are adapted to one, two and three wires, and can thus be used to advantage on any system and in all parts and places on that system.

Fig. 1.

The cleats are all made of one piece of fine quality of porcelain and special care taken to have them perfect in shape and the screw hole It furnishes an easy and quick way of wiring and saves the inconvenience attending the use of tie wire, and also saves a considerable material otherwise used. The cleat from the peculiar shape of the wire rests, holds the wire firmly without any danger of injuring the insulation.

FIG. 2 — THE HAMMOND CLEAT.
Fig. 2 — the Hammond Cleat.

The one wire cleat, as shown in Fig. 1 is slightly different from the two and three wire cleats but the same principle is employed. It is intended for use with arc wires or single wiring of any kind. The ease with which the wire may be run with these cleats is worthy of more than passing notice. The cleats are fastened in place before the wire is adjusted so that both hands are free for the drawing of the wire and fastening in the cleat. This fact will be appreciated by those who have had experience with other methods of wiring requiring the wire to be drawn and held while one hand is encumbered with the necessary tools for fastening.
