Complicity

What is said to, be the real reason why "Bobby" Hart has remained with the Muncie polo team in the Western league, instead of jumping to Indianapolis, where his salary would be much greater than in Muncie, and where he would be with his close friend and rushing partner, Eddie Higgins, is now being told by the fans, says the Marion Leader. It is said that when Hart last week was preparing to accept Manager Cohen's offer, he was told that his jumpng his Muncie contract would be regarded as sufficient cause, for prosecuting him on a charge of perjury because of his connection with the recent marriage of "Davy" Cusick, the Kokomo goal tender, and Miss Sue Hemengray [sic] Hemingray, of Muncie.

When the Kokomo polo player, in spite of the tears, pleadings and threats of the young woman's mother, carried Miss Hemingray, away from Muncie and to Indianapolis, where the marriage ceremony was performed, Mr. and Mrs. Hart accompanied, them, and in Indianapolis Hart swore that Miss Hemingray had lived in Marion county thirty days previous to the issuance of the license. The girl had really lived in Muncie during that time.

It is, said that when Hart talked of leaving Muncie he was told to "jump if you like", but was warned that a perjury charge awaited him if he should. Who made this alleged threat is not stated.

"Wild Charlie'" Farrell, the Muncie captain and half-back, has taken occasion to repeat that in spite of published stories to the contrary, he will not leave Muncie, though he admits that he has received good offers to play elsewhere.
