The Mica Insulator company of New York and Chicago has produced an improved flexible micanite plate, known as "Style C." This plate has a breakdown strain of 1,500 volts as an insulator at a temperature of 100° C. It is said to remain flexible indefinitely, and retain its mechanical strength. It is manufactured in sheets 36 by 36 inches in size, and of any thickness from 0.01 inch upward. For insulating transformers, armature and field-magnet cores, armature slots and commutator shells, and for general insulating purposes it promises to be of much value.
